Airedale Terrier is also called the king of all terriers as
it is biggest of them all. This dog originated in Yorkshire state of Britain. Since there are two rivers flowing through
Yorkshire namely Aire and Wharfe thus this dog was used on the land in between
the two rivers to catch otters and rats. This dog is also very intelligent and
thus it was extensively used during World War I for delivering letters to
British Headquarters intelligence and for also for its strength and stamina as
work dog.
This dog is not meant for cities and hates living in
apartments. It is not easy for first time pet owners to own this dog and it is
always better if you have previous experience with dogs. It doesn’t like to be
alone and it doesn’t tolerate much hot or cold weather.
This dog is very affectionate to the family and with the
kids. Airedale loves to play with kids and also play with other dogs. He is not
much friendlier with strangers but he doesn’t attack them either.
Airedale is easy to groom and doesn’t shed much. It has
potential to gain weight if not exercised properly.
Since this dog is very intelligent so he is easy to train.
They bark and howl a lot and are full of energy most of time.
